GDG has been appointed by PTSC and Semco consortium, to conduct the basic and detailed engineering for Geotechnical and Seismic Design for both Offshore Substations of the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project.

The design work is expected to be completed Q2/Q3 of 2022. The jacket and topside will be designed by the PTSC/SEMCO consortium.

Paul Doherty, Managing Director of Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG), said:

‘We are pleased to be continuing our work in Hai Long project, which we have been involved in since 2019. This project marked our continuing journey in the Taiwan market, and we believe that there is great potential for offshore wind in the comings years in this region.”

Construction of the 1,044 MW Hai Long offshore wind project, located 50 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County, is expected to begin in 2024 and commissioning to be finalised in 2026.

This is the largest offshore substation contract awarded for a Taiwanese project to date. Once fully up and running in 2026, the Hai Long offshore wind project is expected to power 1.55 million households in Taiwan.
