Horizon Europe call to establish a European network of ocean technology testing sites
A new Horizon Europe Mission Ocean call aims to establish an integrated European network of ocean technology testing sites, supporting the transition of innovative marine technologies from laboratory concepts to market-ready solutions. The call will promote harmonised access to physical and digital testing facilities while strengthening cooperation between research organisations, industry, regulators and investors.
Why it matters
Access to specialised testing facilities can be costly and complex, particularly for SMEs and start-ups. The initiative will help shorten innovation cycles, reduce testing costs and risks and strengthen Europe’s position in the global ocean technology market. It will also encourage the inclusion of facilities in less-developed coastal areas and EU outermost regions, creating clear opportunities for testing sites across the Atlantic region.
Who can apply
The call is relevant to ocean technology testing facilities, universities, research centres, offshore renewable energy test sites, ports, marine technology developers, maritime clusters, SMEs, start-ups, regulators and digital ocean infrastructure providers. Eligible applicants include organisations established in EU Member States and Horizon Europe-associated countries, including France, Ireland, Portugal and Spain
