Yesterday, (20th July 2023), XOCEAN welcomed Minister of State Dara Calleary, who opened their new Technical Centre. XOCEAN have also announced the creation of 300 new jobs supporting the rapid expansion of offshore wind.

XOCEAN, the leading provider of carbon-neutral ocean data, has announced the creation of 300 new jobs as part of its strategic growth plan. The jobs announcement comes as the XOCEAN team welcomed Minister of State for Trade Promotion and Digital Transformation, Dara Calleary, to mark the official opening of its new Technical Centre near Carlingford, Co. Louth. From this facility, XOCEAN serves a growing list of international customers, primarily in the rapidly growing offshore wind market.

XOCEAN is transforming how ocean data is delivered, using innovative marine robotics known as Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs). This innovative technology is designed and manufactured by the company in Ireland. The new Technical Centre, located at Rathcor, Co. Louth, provides a state-of-the-art operational hub for the company’s growing fleet with a team of highly qualified engineers and robotic experts ensuring that the vessels are serviced on returning from offshore missions all over the world.

The company has doubled its headcount to over 200 over the past 12 months and plans to grow it further to 500 over the next two years, with roles available in all areas of the business including engineers, technicians, field operatives, data analysts, qualified mariners, geophysicists and project managers.

The global market for ocean data is expanding rapidly, driven largely by the requirements that offshore wind developers have for high-quality data. XOCEAN’s USVs offer significant benefits including safety with operators remaining onshore, efficiency with 24/7 operations and environmental with 99.9% fewer carbon emissions compared to conventional vessels which together lead to significant economic savings.

Welcoming the announcement at their new site in Louth, Minister Dara Calleary said:: “I’m delighted to officially open XOCEAN’s new marine robotics Technical Centre which will result in the creation of 300 new jobs in the coming years.
