Health and Safety Manager

Irish Sea Contractors is looking for a QHSE Manager to join our team in Ferns, Co. Wexford. We are an innovative and dynamic organisation, who provide subsea cable and marine engineering and diving services. The company is at an exciting stage in our growth, and we are looking for someone to join the team and grow within the business. You will be responsible for the management and implementation of quality, health and safety, and environment initiatives and compliance. This role is reporting to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, implement, maintain and ensure compliance with the company’s quality management system to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards
  • Monitor compliance with appropriate legislation and take corrective action where required to ensure a compliant and safe workplace
  • Provide HSE and compliance advice and support to the business
  • Co-ordinate and implement a positive safety culture across the business
  • Participate in project planning and methodology development to ensure QHSE is implemented across projects from the initial planning-phase
  • Develop all HSE documentation required for projects including risk assessments, safety plans,
  • Carry out site visits and audits during projects
  • Provide QHSE support and input for tenders and bids
  • Internal and external stakeholder management
  • Run safety meetings and prepare status reports
  • Ensure all employees receive suitable and required environmental, health and safety training in order to maintain compliance with both the company and legislative requirements, including induction training for new employees
  • Carry out and manage internal audits such as ISO, RSA, DNV, Bureau Veritas
  • Ensure all plant and equipment complies with all applicable regulations and is certified for use
  • Evaluate and pro-actively improve techniques for the control of environment, and health and safety

Requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a similar QHSE role in the construction or marine/diving industry
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulative issues
  • Strong knowledge of ISCO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Stakeholder management experience, internally and with Clients
  • A problem solving and can- do attitude who is a team player
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
