River Cycleway Europe seeking small, privately operated dock, berth or sheltered site in Ireland to host a short proof-of-concept demo

Floating infrastructure for the green and blue economy: Partnership opportunities with River Cycleway Europe

River Cycleway Europe (RCE), a MIIN member based at PorterShed in Galway, is turning rivers, harbours and coastal waters into clean, connected public space. Their floating transport and utility infrastructure gives cities and ports new room to move, generate clean energy and adapt to a changing climate, without taking land from the shore or disturbing the ecosystems beneath. Their first market is floating greenways for walking and cycling. The same platform can also serve offshore renewables, sustainable ports, ocean conservation and future-ready coastal communities.

RCE want to partner on pilots and EU-funded consortium projects that deliver clear results for industry, cities and coastal communities:

• Offshore wind and marine energy: cleaner operations through electrified service vessels, and a second life for turbine components
• Sustainable ports and logistics: local clean energy, battery storage and zero-emission last-mile delivery
• Marine monitoring and communications: instrumented floating platforms that gather live evidence on water, weather and ecosystems, with satellite connectivity
• Blue food and conservation: seaweed, seagrass and shellfish growing alongside floating renewables
• Coastal communities: community-owned clean energy that helps tackle fuel poverty.

The ask

Cities and ports in Ireland and across Europe have expressed interest in our approach. The next step is evidence on the water. RCE are looking for a small, privately operated dock, berth or sheltered site in Ireland to host a short proof-of-concept demo. It needs no public permitting and puts no risk on the public purse. Host partners gain early access, first-hand evidence and visibility as the work scales.

If your organisation works in any of the areas above, or could host a demo, RCE would be glad to hear from you.
