About the Business
P&O Maritime is a global company providing specialist maritime service solutions through ownership, operation and management of a fleet of specialised vessels for customers’ long-term requirements. In Ireland, P&O Maritime Services Ireland Ltd operates two research vessels on behalf of the Marine Institute. The Company are currently seeking to create a panel for the position of Deckhand on the Irish Research Vessel Fleet. Successful candidates will be called on for temporary work and permanent roles as they become available.
About the Role
To assist in the safe operation of all deck equipment, scientific equipment and the maintenance and cleanliness of the deck department as directed by the Chief Officer or Bosun.
Experience and Qualifications
- All STCW certification – EEA Seafarers Medical, Discharge Book, Watch Rating, Fire Fighting, First Aid, PST, PSSR, CPSC, Designated Duties (ISPS).
- Watch rating Certificate, STCW Reg II/4 and STCW Reg II/5 Able Seafarer Deck an advantage.
- Due to the nature of vessel operations experience in fishing experience including the handling of fishing equipment is desirable.
- Previous experience on research vessels an advantage.
