Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport call to modernise maritime transport infrastructure across the TEN-T network and reduce the environmental impact of shipping
The European Commission has launched a new Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport call to modernise maritime transport infrastructure across the TEN-T network and reduce the environmental impact of shipping. The call supports works related to onshore power supply and charging infrastructure in maritime and inland ports, as well as the fitting or retrofitting of eligible vessels with cleaner energy and propulsion technologies.
Why it matters
The call will help accelerate the decarbonisation of European maritime transport by supporting electric, hybrid, hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, biomethane and wind-assisted propulsion solutions. It is particularly relevant to Atlantic ports and short-sea shipping routes, helping improve sustainable connectivity while contributing to EU climate-neutrality objectives.
Who can apply
Applications are open to eligible public and private legal entities established in EU Member States or countries associated with the CEF programme. The opportunity is particularly relevant to TEN-T port authorities and operators, shipping companies, ferry and short-sea shipping operators, infrastructure managers and energy providers. Specific conditions apply to port infrastructure and vessels, including requirements concerning TEN-T connectivity and EU flag registration.
