About BIM
BIM is a non-commercial semi-state body, formally established by statute (Irish Sea Fisheries Act 1952) and an agency of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). It is the Irish State agency responsible for developing the Irish seafood industry. BIM’s strategy aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Irish seafood sector focusing on the following five key strategic priorities: Sustainability, Skills, Innovation, Competitiveness, Leadership.

The organisation has four business units: Seafood Technical Services, Corporate Services, Development Innovation Services, Insights & Strategic Services, and these are supported by the Office of the CEO. BIM’s Head Office is in Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

In supporting the seafood sector, BIM’s staff are also strategically located in the coastal communities which they serve, including offices in Galway and Killybegs. In addition, BIM’s two training colleges are located in Greencastle, Co. Donegal and Castletownbere, Co. Cork.

Brief description of Role
This is a senior leadership role with national impact. As a member of BIM’s Senior Leadership Team, the Director will lead the Development & Innovation Services (DIS) Business Unit. This function is central to delivering business development supports, innovation programmes, and market intelligence to the seafood sector.

Salary
In accordance with the Public Sector, Department of Finance the approved Salary Scale is a salary range of €108,152 to €133,775 (as at 1st June 2026) per annum pro-rated with time worked.
