New revalidation requirements for skippers

Under updated legislation, all fishermen holding a Certificate of Competency (CoC) are now required to revalidate their CoC every five years. Every CoC holder must revalidate by the statutory deadline of 1st July 2028 – without this revalidation, they may not be entitled to legally operate. This is a significant change, particularly for fishermen who previously held certificates with no revalidation or training requirements.
