Japanese giant Shimizu Corp leads strategic investment in Dublin Offshore

Dublin Offshore Technology (DOT) have announced a strategic investment round led by the Japanese construction giant Shimizu Corporation, with participation from Enterprise Ireland.

This marks the first time Shimizu's CVC team has acted as a Lead Investor, signalling a major vote of global confidence in Irish-developed mooring technology. As floating offshore wind scales globally, DOT's newly DNV-certified technology is a "game-changer" for reducing the costs and risks of these massive deep-sea projects.

The key take aways being:

  • Global Scaling: The investment formalizes a three-year technical partnership, positioning DOT to enter the high-growth Asia-Pacific market via Shimizu's industrial strength.

  • Certified Innovation: The funding follows the official DNV certification of DOT's Load Reduction Device (LRD), validating it as a frontrunner in mooring technology.

  • Strategic Backing: The round is bolstered by the Irish government via Enterprise Ireland and existing shareholder ESB, aligning with the National Offshore Wind Industrial Strategy.
