New edition of “Irish Wind Farms - Major Projects and Resource” map published

Published every two years by La Tene Maps, this full colour map shows all wind power projects in Ireland over 1 MW that are built, under construction, planned (fully consented) and projects in development or in planning.

The operators name and generating capacity are also shown. This information is shown against a background of the wind resource and the electricity transmission and distribution system. This is the 6th edition of the map. It covers Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and has an expanded offshore component with licenced areas for offshore wind together with future development areas.

The map is available in print and pdf formats and will be distributed freely at conferences and exhibitions that the company attends over the next two years.

Speaking on the release of the map John Coleman of La Tene Maps said. “Producing a map on Ireland is a lot harder than other areas because a comprehensive list of projects is not available, Also there are other considerations, a project area can have several names and sometimes a project seeks additional planning due to a change in turbine numbers, model and height”.
