Aqualicense is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Ecologist/Environmental Scientist.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the preparation, review, and delivery of ecology and environmental reports, ensuring high-quality outputs for our clients. This is a technical role that also requires project management experience. The candidate will report directly to the CEO. The position will involve a combination of work planning, technical report writing, review, and fieldwork where required. The role is remote-based, with flexibility to travel for meetings or site visits if necessary.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing and coordinating Ecological and Environmental Assessments and associated reports in collaboration with the Aqualicense team.
- Leading the preparation, review, and sign-off of specialist EIAR chapters.
- Drafting, reviewing, and finalising Appropriate Assessment documents.
- Providing technical expertise in environmental assessment projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Ensuring all deliverables meet high-quality standards and comply with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Engaging with clients, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met effectively.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Marine Biology, Geography, or related field.
- Minimum five years' relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of Irish and EU planning and environmental legislation.
- Experience preparing and signing off AA Screenings, NIS, and EIAR chapters.
- Proficiency in GIS
- Excellent technical writing, data analysis, and reporting skills.
- Interest and knowledge of marine and terrestrial environments.
- Strong organisational, communications, project management and stakeholder experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Experience coordinating EIARs.
- Experience with bidding and tendering.
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., CIEEM).
- Experience with automation, statistical packages and software.
- Background in marine, aquaculture, or fisheries.
- A Masters/ PhD in a relevant science.
