Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior R&D Engineer (Mechanical) to lead a team of talented engineers and contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge systems. This role combines leadership, mentorship, and hands-on design responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape projects from concept to delivery. You will guide and collaborate with junior engineers while taking a leading role in mechanical design and R&D initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of junior engineers (mechanical and electrical/electronic).
  • Delegate tasks effectively, manage workloads, and ensure project milestones are met.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Mechanical Design and R&D:
  • Drive the design and development of mechanical systems and components.
  • Oversee prototype development, testing, and performance evaluation.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Project Management:
  • Plan and manage projects from initial concept through to delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software elements.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding project status and progress.
  • Documentation and Standards:
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of detailed design documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Hands-On Contribution:
  • Actively participate in mechanical design, prototyping, and system testing.
  • Perform design reviews, troubleshoot issues, and refine solutions as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including hands-on mechanical design and R&D.
  • Some experience in mentoring or supervising team members.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD software
  • Strong understanding of material selection, mechanical systems, and prototyping.
  • Desirable experience in:
  • Harsh environment
  • Integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in testing methodologies and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of FEA or simulation tools is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques and design for manufacturability (DFM).
