About the Role:

The 2nd Officer is responsible to the Master for the safe navigation of the vessel while on watch, administration of the Bridge department and to understudy the Chief Officer and be prepared to assume such role.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum STCW OOW Unlimited or equivalent.
  • Due to the nature of vessel operations, its desirable that suitable candidates have fishing experience including the handling of fishing equipment.
  • Experience on Research Vessel operations and DP experience is desirable.
  • All up to date STCW 95 short course certification including Safety Officer Certification.
  • A valid ENG11 or equivalent medical cert.
  • ISM experience and ISPS SSO certification would be an advantage.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Computer literate, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) desirable, Electronic Charting systems and Nav aids.
