New upskilling programmes to future-proof the sustainable development of the Maritime Sector

Patrick O’Donovan TD, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research Innovation and Science has launched two new courses to support the delivery of offshore wind energy and the move to a more sustainable future for the maritime industry
CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet together with the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) have collaborated to design and deliver two new upskilling programmes planned to support the sustainable development of the maritime sector into the future.
The NMCI Master of Science (MSc) in Maritime Operations, delivered by the CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet, fills a long-standing need in the sector, by creating an education pathway for those seeking to lead Ireland’s maritime industry into a sustainable future. The MSc programme will give learners the knowledge and tools for leadership in onshore management roles, as well as offering support for various maritime operations such as port management, ship management, offshore energy development, aquaculture, and other marine endeavours associated with Ireland.
The MSc in Maritime Operations programme is heavily subsidised for eligible participants (over 23, living in Ireland and in employment) and available at a reduced cost of €4,500 down from €8,500. The September cohort has just began however you can now register your interest for the next cohort commencing in January 2025.
The Certificate in Port and Offshore Energy Operations Management is a 12-week programme and available at just €450. This programme is ongoing – you can start any time.
