Oceanographic / Metocean Scientist

Qualifications, Experience and skillset required:

• MSc or equivalent in Earth Sciences (Oceanography/Meteorology) or Engineering  
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Metocean or marine survey sector/engineering  
• Professionalism, excellent communication skills 
• Ability to work to deadlines 

Main Duties: 

• Working with our team of Metocean engineers/scientists to ensure safe and successful deployment and delivery of our Metocean contracts 
• Interpreting and transforming raw data into processed format ready for delivery, using industry-standard software and quality control 
• Data Analysis upon client requirements 
• Data report preparation 
• Supporting in the development of technical proposals  
• Development of analysis tools 

Essential Skills/Experience: 

• Experience with at least one specialist programming language, e.g. Python, MATLAB, R, etc. 
• Familiarity with Metocean equipment and sensors, e.g. ADCPs, wave buoys etc.  
• Experience with processing raw data from various Metocean sensors 
• Familiarity with Metocean data quality control procedures

Full Stack Web Developer

Qualifications, Experience and skillset required:

• Applications are invited for a Full Stack Web Developer with 3-5 years commercial sector experience.
• As a valuable member of a small team you will be principally involved in development and maintenance of our web based decision support system CoastEye.
• You will also work closely with our embedded development teams.
• You must be a team worker, possess good communication skills and be able to work to deadlines. The positalso involves a degree of flexibility.

Main Duties: 

• Design, development and maintenance of CoastEye Web Application.
• Management of big datasets, researching and utilizing modern technologies, that solve problems related to environmental big data processing and storage.
• Collaborating with embedded development team on design and development of real time data acquisition component of CoastEye system.
• Database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL and PostGIS).
• Cross-platform mobile application development (Expo, react-native).

Essential Skills/Experience: 

• Bachelor degree or higher in Computing or similar field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in object-oriented development experience
• Good communicator, with an ability to communicate successfully to a variety of audience including technical documentation
• Effective team player
• An ability to meet project milestones.
• MQTT Publishing/Subscribing and brokers on AWS
• Knowledge of PHP and its Frameworks
• Solid understanding of HTTP (request methods, headers, cookies, error codes, redirects and forwards etc.)
• Solid Front-end development knowledge including JS, React, Vues
• Solid Back-end development with Node.js/Python, Docker and Orchestration
• RESTful API/web-services
• Strong OOP and design patterns knowledge
• Solid experience with MySQL/Postgresql/NoSQL and Database Design
• Experience with Git and GitFlow
• Knowledge of AWS, DevOps
• Agile/Scrum project methodology

Junior Embedded Engineer

Essential Skills/Experience: 

• Minimum BEng in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in embedded Linux software development
• Experience with languages such as Python essential
• Experience with working in a Linux based environment essential
• Experience with Yocto and build systems for embedded devices
• OpenWRT experience is desirable
• Experience with electronic design and layout
• Network routing and interface management
• Basic system administrator experience
• Project management experience an advantage
• Proven people skills
• Good organisational skills important

Marine Technician

Qualifications, Experience and skillset required:

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years experience in Metocean engineering field.
• Professionalism, excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines.

Main Duties:

• Working with our technical team to prepare data platforms for deployment.
• Working with our Field team to deploy Marine Data Platforms.
• Servicing and maintaining technical platforms at sea.
• Data report preparation.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Experience with Python
• Familiarity with Metocean equipment and sensors, e.g. ADCPs, wave buoys etc. 
• Experience with interacting with Metocean sensors, configuration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Metocean data quality control procedures.
• Full Driving Licence.
