ARQ are seeking experienced Marine Electrical Maintenance Technicians in Cork.

Marine Electrical Maintenance Technician
Full-time, 12 month contract – Cork
Deadline for applications: Monday 31st July 2023

The successful candidates will provide electrical maintenance support in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems in the marine environment. If you enjoy working on next generation systems this is a very rare opportunity to work with Tier 1 customers in the maintenance of state of the art technologies and systems on floating platforms.

The Role:

The marine electrical maintenance roles will be based in Cork, and will involve working on the following types of ships systems (not at sea):

  • Electrical generation and distribution systems
  • Engine room control systems
  • Navigational systems
     

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking of technical examinations and investigations on-board ships (not at sea).
  • Provision of written reports (post examination), detailing findings, technical evaluation, and recommendations for defect rectification.
  • Conducting safety reviews for equipment.
  • Administrative and technical assistance associated with the introduction and implementation of equipment modifications and additions.
  • Administration and technical assistance associated with the procurement of equipment new to service.
  • Technical support for planned and unplanned maintenance.
     

Indicative types of educational qualifications:

  • B. Eng. in Electronic Engineering HETAC Level 7
  • B. Eng. In Marine Electrotechnology HETAC Level 7
  • B. Eng. Ordinary Degree in Electronic Engineering – Communication Systems.
  • BE (Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering)
  • Qualified Marine Electro Technical Officer (ETO)
     

The Person:

  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • The ability to easily integrate into a team of highly skilled professionals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant electrical systems.
  • Resourcefulness, adaptability, and flexibility.


Ideally suited to: Electro Technical Officers (ETOs) seeking a shore based placement and electrical technicians from other industries with relevant transferable skills and experience.

Experience:

5+ years experience trouble shooting of electrical systems. Experience of working with shipboard power generation and electrical distribution systems would be a distinct advantage.
