MIIN Meets Minister at MRIA

Liam Curran (Enterprise Ireland/MIIN Coordinator) and John Breslin (BlueWise Marine) took the opportunity at the 14th Annual Marine Renewables Industry Association (MRIA) Forum to speak with former Minister for the Marine, and current Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Simon Coveney TD, about the growing marine industry capacity in Ireland.
Liam took the opportunity to present Minister Coveney TD with a copy of the MIIN Directory, which highlights the growing and diverse range of companies operating in Ireland blue economy. Details of each member company in the Directory is also available on our website and is a great resource for any foreign organisation looking to enter the Irish market or for domestic organisations looking to collaborate with MIIN member companies.
The MRIA Forum, led by chairman Peter Coyle, was as always well attended and received by the marine renewable industry, with plenty of opportunities to network and hear from key players in the marine industry in Ireland, including some of our own MIIN members.
Key-note speaker, Minister for Environment, Climate & Communications, Eamon Ryan TD, gave a very clear and concise position on the Government’s, and his own, commitment to ensuring that Ireland invests in infrastructure and human capital to meet the requirements of the Offshore Renewable Energy sector and climate action targets.
The opportunity to discuss the recently published Ireland’s Ocean Economy Report from the Marine Institute and the Socio-Economic Marine Research Unit (SEMRU) was a great talking point for Minister Coveney and John Breslin (BlueWise Marine) at the event, who were impressed by the facts and figures presented in the report, showing that Ireland's emerging marine industries, such as Offshore Renewables, Marine Biotechnology and Advanced Ocean Technology, continue to show strong growth in Ireland’s bid to reach net-zero.
We are already looking ahead to next year’s 15th Annual MRIA Forum!
