Irish Commercial Charter Boats supports record-breaking engineering at East Anglia TWO

Irish Commercial Charter Boats (ICCB) carried out all marine operations for OCU Group (EUR) and Peter McCormack & Sons Limited as part of a record-breaking installation at ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm off Suffolk.
The operation involved two continuous polyethylene ducts, each nearly 1,800 metres long and 800mm in diameter. To put that into perspective, each duct stretches roughly the length of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile — from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace. Now imagine moving that at sea, in one piece.
The project achieved the world’s longest continuous single sections of extruded polyethylene duct and the UK’s largest power cable landfall of its kind, based on the combination of length and diameter. The ducts will protect the windfarm’s electricity export cables beneath the coastline and seabed.
It was a significant undertaking, and we’re delighted to have contributed our marine expertise alongside the teams delivering this engineering milestone.
