Seafood Innovation Programme Open for Expressions of interest

The Seafood Innovation Programme is designed to strengthen the innovation and new product development (NPD) capacity of Ireland’s seafood sector.

It develops the skills of individual participants while helping companies embed NPD as a structured and strategic part of their business. Through one-to-one coaching and the application of practical tools and methods, the programme supports individuals in managing NPD more effectively and fostering a culture of innovation. By combining hands-on insights with commercial and strategic focus, the initiative enables seafood businesses to create, test, and launch new products more successfully in competitive markets.

Who it’s for

The Seafood Innovation Programme is designed for those working in Ireland’s seafood processing and primary production sectors who want to strengthen their innovation skills, bring new ideas to market, and embed innovation as a core business function.

The ideal candidate should be actively involved in new product development (NPD) and have a minimum of three years of experience in the seafood or food sector.

How the programme will run

Beginning in February 2026, the programme runs over nine months and includes 12–15 days of activity. Participants will engage in hands-on learning, structured workshops and modular themes, along with trade visits and field trips in Ireland and abroad. Each company will also receive tailored mentoring to ensure that learning is applied directly in practice.

Programme aims

The programme is designed to build the capacity for structured new product development (NPD) and to equip participants with practical tools to improve innovation processes. It will encourage companies to view NPD as a strategic, cross-functional discipline while also fostering a network of seafood innovators. Participants will gain the skills needed to scale innovative products, strengthen competitiveness, and expand into export markets.

Why apply?
