That's a wrap - MIIN's networking event & MIIN's EMD stand in Cork

Cork City was a hive of activity last week as part of the EMD conference and exhibition.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday 22nd May, at our marine industry networking event, on board the RV Tom Crean. We would like to give special thanks to the Marine Institute staff and P&O crew onboard the RV Tom Crean, who helped us prepare and deliver a really successful event.

Six years ago, MIIN known by another name at the time, hosted one of our first networking events on the RV Celtic Explorer on a cold evening in Galway. Reflecting on the two events, from where we were last week on the RV Tom Crean, we can see the positive journey the network has taken over the last 6 years. We have grown from a small, low profile network, to an active and growing network of 277 directory members, with an increasing online reach and active membership.

The networking event, which hosted approx 60 persons on the RV Tom Crean, was a great place for our members and stakeholders to meet new and old marine industry colleagues who came from near and far. The event also included a vessel tour, of the state of the art research vessel.

We hope the event showed how important it is to stay connected, with the marine industry in Ireland. MIIN aims to bring together marine companies and organisations, through our events, so that we can learn about each others work, and discover economic opportunities for our members, by encouraging collaborations.

European Maritime Days Exhibit

Last week, MIIN also exhibited at the EMD conference and exhibit on Thursday and Friday in Cork City Hall. We had a busy few days at the stand, speaking to the EMD attendees, including interested EU clusters, marine industry stakeholders, public and MIIN members who visited our stand to meet us.

We also made the stand available to our MIIN directory members to promote their work to the EMD attendees. MIIN member's XYZ Engineering took advantage of this opportunity and used the stand to meet with potential clients and project partners.

While on the stand, we also had the pleasure of briefing An Taoiseach  Micheál Martin and Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien about the network and the marine industry in Ireland.
