MFRC are currently recruiting for the role of Postdoctoral Researcher for the project Multispecies food web modelling in Irish waters for fishery management in the context of climate change (MOSAIC).

Nature & Duration of Contract: 4 year fixed term contract
Reporting To: Dr Cóilín Minto & Dr Deirdre Brophy (ATU); Prof. David Reid (Marine Institute) Department / Function Marine and Freshwater Research Centre, Department of Natural Resources and the Environment
Location: ATU Galway City 

Essential:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline or, exceptionally, equivalent* research experience (including industrial R&D).
  • Expertise in quantitative ecology with example applications to ecosystem, fisheries, climate change.
    *EU defines PhD equivalent as 4 years fulltime research after primary  degree. 

Desirable:

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Ecosystem modelling
  • Fisheries science
  • Experience in statistical modelling and an excellent knowledge of R or other programming languages are highly desirable.
  • Excellent publication record
  • Excellent presentation/engagement record
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent communicator with an ability to interact with a range of stakeholders (regulatory authorities, state agencies, seafood producers, general public) and to disseminate project objectives and outputs in formats appropriate to the target audience. 

Salary:  €42,783 - €46,569, 39hrs/week
