Irish Lights are currently recruiting for the role of Assistant Deck Supervisor on board the ILV Granuaile.

The duties of an Assistant Deck Supervisor include shipboard maintenance, mooring operations, watch keeping and operating deck machinery. You will be working with cranes, winches, workboats and helicopter operations and you will also be required to carry out specific duties associated with your experience in shipboard operations.

Our operations include servicing buoys and lighthouses so you will need a good level of fitness for working on moving platforms and at height.

As an Assistant Deck Supervisor, you will require leadership skills to supervise deck and service operations in the absence of the Deck Supervisor. You will also be expected to lead by example, particularly in respect to safe working practices.

You will need a valid STCW II/5 Able Seafarer Deck Certificate of Competency and supporting STCW certificates as follows:

  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibility Certificate.
  • Basic Fire Fighting Certificate.
  • Personal Survival Techniques Certificate
  • Elementary First Aid Certificate.
  • Navigation Watch Ratings Certificate (Deck).
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
  • Designated Security Duties.

A valid Seafarers Medical Certificate and a full, clean Driving Licence is required. Ideally, you will also have deckhand experience on specialised vessels such as Aids to Navigation or Offshore Anchor Handling.

Salary: €30,440 - €37,125
Roster: 4 weeks on/4 weeks off
