About the Role

BlueWise Marine are seeking to appoint a Health Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Manager to join our senior management team. The HSEQ Manager will oversee internal and external HSEQ projects and have responsibility for growing our service offering to the Offshore Renewable Energy Sector. The HSEQ Manager will manage the delivery of all HSEQ related projects including our Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) and Strategic Advisory client projects, providing end-to-end HSEQ advice and support throughout all phases of projects ensuring compliance with relevant National and International legislation.  This includes assisting clients in developing their own management systems, pre-qualification assessments for client’s contractors in terms of minimum HSES requirements, review of proposed work plans including risk assessments and method statements and providing ongoing support during development of offshore projects.

The HSEQ manager will be a member of BlueWise marine Senior Management team and will contribute to the strategic direction of the company.  The successful candidate will play a key role in developing opportunities for the Company to meet the increased demand for Offshore HSEQ advice arising from the global expansion of the ORE sector.

The role will involve taking the lead in the ongoing management and development of the BlueWise Marine accredited integrated management system to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, procedures and other documents are kept up to date and successful re-accreditation under the ISO standards, 9001, 14001 & 45001.  The successful applicant will actively promote the safety awareness of all staff through promotion, risk assessment, training and working with all team members within various work streams including sea going activities, event management and daily operations.

The position is a remote working position and will involve occasional site visits and meetings in our Head office in the ATU iHubs, Galway and client offices as required.

About You

BlueWise Marine are seeking individuals who are passionate about Health, Safety Environment and Quality and have a proven track record delivering HSEQ management support to projects in the offshore construction, maritime  and/or renewable energy sectors. The successful candidate will hold a degree/diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or similar, while experience of the marine and maritime industries is desirable it is not essential. You will have a strong, yet pragmatic safety culture with excellent client management skills. You will be comfortable & confident overseeing all health & safety within the company.

The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge of ISO standards, 9001, 14001 & 45001, including experience with auditing processes and proficiency in written and oral English language, exceptional communication, and interpersonal skills. Applicants must demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and ability to deliver on multiple projects with different deadlines simultaneously.  A high level of IT literacy is also required, including advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.

The role would be ideally suited to someone with marine and maritime experience or experience working on construction of wind farm developments in Ireland or elsewhere who is interested in diversifying to the offshore sector. We look for people with a passion for the marine, and the role which Irelands offshore wind and wave resources can play in helping us to meet Irelands climate change targets.

Experience and Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety, Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental safety, occupational safety and health, or similar desired.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in marine operations, offshore renewables, construction, utilities or similar heavy industry, including in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience and training in conducting audits on, developing and implementing Integrated management systems to ISO standards, International Safety Management (ISM) for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention or similar
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, health and safety and construction regulations and policies in Ireland.
  • Familiarity with European Safety & Construction Regulations is essential in addition to the applicable Marine, Maritime and European legislation which will apply to the development of offshore wind in Ireland and elsewhere.
  • A good working knowledge of pre-qualification processes, risk assessments, site safety plans, emergency preparedness plans, incident investigation, COSHH and RIDDOR.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in identifying requirements and delivering HSEQ training as necessary
  • Experience in participating in the assessment of tender submissions or pre-qualification of contractors.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and be able to work on your own and within strict guidelines and timelines.
  • Well-developed planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Highly IT literate, including advanced MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills

Desirable:

  • HSEQ related experience working in Offshore Renewable Energy projects.
  • Experience working in the marine and maritime sectors including auditing/inspection of vessels.
  • Offshore experience in European waters an advantage.
  • Valid training in offshore such as GWO, HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training), OPITO etc.
  • Experience in participating in the assessment of tender submissions or pre-qualification of contractors.
  • Experience of developing and auditing Integrated management systems.
  • Knowledge or experience in the implementation of EU General Data Protection Regulations
