Metocean Technician
(TechWorks Marine Head Office – Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin)

TechWorks are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person who will have:

  • A background in electrical/electronic/marine engineering or similar
  • 3 years’ experience in the marine sector/engineering and/or a demonstrable interest in working on water
  • Professionalism, excellent communications, and organisational skills

Main Duties:

  • Working within our metocean field team to ensure the safe and successful delivery of our marine survey contracts.
  • Managing the ongoing maintenance, servicing and calibration of our oceanographic instrumentation pool, alongside data buoy platforms and seabed frames.
  • Assisting with the managing and delivery of marine surveys, including mobilisation, deployment, ongoing maintenance and recovery of metocean equipment.
  • Conducting scheduled and preventative maintenance to all our oceanographic equipment deployed at sea.
  • Developing and implementing and updating any standard operating procedures for the use of the equipment pool.
  • Ensuring survey activities adhere to the latest EU and industry standards.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Technical knowledge of operating, troubleshooting and servicing oceanographic and marine survey equipment
  • Experience with delivery of marine projects
  • Evidence of self-motivation with excellent organisational skills
  • Successful delivery of projects to strict deadlines whilst being flexible to schedule changes
  • Fluent English (reading, written and spoken)
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Full clean driver license

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the marine survey sector in Europe, including service and maintenance of marine systems
  • Appropriate HSQE certificates for working on water (STCW)
  • Marine Experience
  • Proven experience of delivery of projects to strict timescales

Oceanographer/Marine Scientist
(TechWorks Marine Head Office – Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin)

TechWorks are looking for a dynamic person who will have:

  • A Degree or Masters in Science, Engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the marine survey sector/engineering
  • Professionalism, excellent communications skills.

Main Duties:

  • Working with our team of Metocean engineers/scientists to ensure safe and successful deployment and delivery of our Metocean contracts.
  • Delivering Marine Surveys, including mobilisation, deployment, ongoing maintenance and recovery of Metocean Data Buoys and Seabed Frames.
  • Manage the ongoing calibration and maintenance of our Metocean equipment pool, including Data Buoy Platforms and Maintenance of Seabed Frames.
  • Preparation of project documentation and field reports for our clients, in keeping with our ISO and HSQE procedures.
  • Data Analysis and interpretation including report preparation.
  • Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance to oceanographic instrumentation and moorings deployed at sea.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with managing and delivering Metocean surveys to clients in Europe
  • Knowledge of operating and troubleshooting Oceanographic equipment.
    • Equipment includes ADCPs, CTDs, ROVs, water quality surveying

Full Stack Web Developer
(TechWorks Marine Head Office – Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin)

TechWorks are looking for:

  • A Full Stack Web Developer with 3-5 years commercial sector experience.
  • Someone to be principally involved in development and maintenance of their web based decision support system CoastEye.
  • A team worker, who possess good communication skills and is able to work to deadlines.

Main Duties:

  • Design, development and maintenance of CoastEye Web Application.
  • Management of big datasets, researching and utilising modern technologies, that solve problems related to environmental big data processing and storage.
  • Collaborating with embedded development team on design and development of real time data acquisition component of CoastEye system.
  • Database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL and PostGIS).
  • Cross-platform mobile application development (Expo, react-native).

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computing or similar field
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in object-oriented development experience
  • Good communicator, with an ability to communicate successfully to a variety of audience including technical documentation
  • Effective team player
  • An ability to meet project milestones
  • MQTT Publishing/Subscribing and brokers on AWS
  • Knowledge of PHP and its frameworks
  • Solid understanding of HTTP (request methods, headers, cookies, error codes, redirects and forwards etc.)
  • Solid front-end development knowledge including JS, React, Vues
  • Solid back-end development with Node.js/Python, Docker and Orchestration
  • RESTful API/web-services
  • Stron OOP and design patterns knowledge
  • Solid experience with MySQL/Postgresql/NoSQL and Database Design
  • Experience with Git and GitFlow
  • Knowledge of AWS, DevOps
  • Agile/Scrum project methodology

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Front-end map libraries (mapbox, leaflet)
  • Geospatial tools and libararies; gdal, ogr, mapserver
  • Redis
