What next after RESS 2?

Later on this month contracts will be awarded to wind and solar projects after the second auction under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS). Wind Energy Ireland and Green Tech Skillnet are inviting you to join a panel of leading voices in the industry to discuss the RESS 2 results and to identify what needs to change in RESS 3 to deliver renewable energy at a lower price.

The second RESS auction will be a significant milestone towards reaching our wind and solar Climate Action Plan target and takes place as the first of the RESS 1 projects are starting to connect. Every wind and solar farm which wins a contract in RESS 2 will help to cut Ireland’s carbon emissions, to bring us a step closer to energy independence, and will help to provide some protection for consumers from an international fossil fuel market which appears to be growing only more volatile – and expensive.

But can what can we learn from the results in RESS 2? Are there lessons which can be applied to improve future onshore and offshore auctions? How can we ensure a fair and transparent auction system which delivers renewable power at the best possible price?

Joining us in this free webinar to answer these questions will be Richard Crowley, Energy Trading Manager with PrePay Power, who will share his analysis of the RESS 2 results, Peter Connolly, Group Commercial Partner and Managing Director for Ireland and Scotland with Cornwall Insights, who will launch exciting new research setting out how future RESS auctions can be improved, and Paul Blount, Portfolio Director with FutureEnergy Ireland who will join the speakers for what promises to be an absorbing panel discussion chaired by Wind Energy Ireland’s CEO Noel Cunniffe.
