Maritime Hybrid, Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cells Conference and Exhibition

Demonstrating the value of fleet electrification, overcoming grid constraints

The annual Maritime Hybrid, Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cells Conference & Exhibition arms technical experts and decision makers with key data from successful deployments, to support their business case for fleet electrification.

Rapid advancements in battery technologies, combined with continued cost reductions, are making electrification an increasingly commercially viable solution for many shipping applications, whether through hybrid or fully electric propulsion. Growing regulatory pressure is further accelerating adoption, including Norway's zero-emission requirements for passenger vessels below 10,000 GT operating in its UNESCO World Heritage fjords, which came into effect on 1 January 2026 and are driving greater momentum for battery-powered shipping.

Meanwhile, fuel cell technologies, including proton exchange membrane (PEM) and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), continue to receive significant funding and industry interest as key enablers of a fuel-efficient transition to higher-cost low- and zero-carbon fuels, including biofuels and e-fuels. Together with battery-electric solutions, these technologies are helping to improve energy efficiency while supporting the maritime sector's transition towards zero-emission operations.
