Food Waste Management Webinar for Irish Seafood Processors

The management of seafood waste and by-products during food production operations is a key issue currently facing the Seafood Processing sector. This webinar will focus on Food Waste Management & is part of BIM’s Sustainability Series under the Green Seafood Business Programme. Production and processing operations can generate large volumes of unused fish and shellfish waste, as well as by-products. It has been estimated that up to 60% of fish go unused after filleting. Often these unused parts of fish and shellfish can still be valuable and reused or formed into other useful products, including food products for human consumption, pharmaceutical products, agricultural fertilisers, pet foods and bait.

As well as increasing awareness around the important issue of Food Waste Management, this webinar will provide seafood processors with information on a range of waste management pathways as well as the feasibility and current status of different waste management technologies. Expert speakers will deliver presentations on food waste measurement tools and assess the advantages and disadvantages of different waste management solutions currently available to the industry.
