European Maritime Day 2027
The next European Maritime Day 2027 will be held in Santander, Spain, on 20-21 May 2027.
The EMD is the occasion to pay tribute to "maritime Europe" and put all maritime sectors and activities in the spotlight to help European citizens realise the real outreach and variety of sea-related activities going on in Europe and provoke reflection on the crucial role the seas play in our everyday life.
It is the annual event during which Europe’s maritime community meet to network, discuss and outline joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy.
The EMD is also the place where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’. It provides an engaging and interactive experience to catch up on the current state of play on a broad range of issues concerning the blue economy and the marine environment and to discuss ways of moving forward. It features inspirational speakers, thematic sessions, stakeholder workshops, exhibition and lots of networking opportunities. The EMD targets professionals from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs and academia as well as EU citizens interested in the sea.
The EMD 2027 is organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in cooperation with the Government of Cantabria, the City of Santander and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, through the Secretary of State for the European Union.
The interesting programme showcases plenary sessions with keynote speeches on the latest developments of the European maritime policies, workshops organised by maritime stakeholders, an exhibition, etc. In addition, you will have many opportunities to connect with your peers, exchange views, showcase your achievements and get up to speed with the latest policy developments in the maritime world.
This EMD will take place in the Palacio de Festivales with some sessions in the adjacent Maritime academy.
