APEM Ireland launch event
Did you know that there are a total of 913 protected areas in Ireland, 604 Natura 2000 sites - 165 Special Protection Areas (Birds Directive) and 439 Sites of Community Importance (Habitat Directive) - as well as 309 sites designated under national laws?*
With a country so rich in plant and animal life, it should be concerning to all sectors of society and Irish businesses that we’re seeing a catastrophic decline in biodiversity in Ireland.
With this in mind, all MIIN members and all members of IDA are invited to the APEM Group launch event on Wednesday June 15th from 6pm. There, we will be joined by a representative of Natural Capital Ireland (see https://www.naturalcapitalireland.com/) who will discuss these issues and briefly set out some ways in which Irish businesses can take positive steps to maintain, protect and enhance our biodiversity.
This will be followed by brief presentations from members of the APEM Group.
The event will be hosted in our new home at the National Software Centre, Mahon, Cork. We hope that you can join us and meet the wider team, find out more about some of our work and network over a glass of something and a few light bites.
Please RSVP using this link and to please also share this invitation with your members and network in Ireland.
About APEM in Ireland
Since opening our virtual doors in September 2020, our team in Cork has grown to 10 people, and with at least four more joining us this year. In July last year we also were joined by Woodrow, a primarily terrestrial ecological consultancy based in County Sligo, and in February this year we were also joined by AQUAFACT, a primarily marine ecology consultancy, based in Galway.
Collectively we are now one of the largest environmental consultancies in Ireland – known as the APEM Group.
The evening will be a great opportunity to understand the relationship between business and biodiversity in Ireland and what can and needs to be done to protect our unique and special environment, as well as an opportunity to meet members of our team, our ecologists, as well as to network among yourselves
